Lyngksiar Waterfall

This is the most beautiful Waterfall of the village. It derived its name from the rare orchid known as Tiew Lyngksiar. This orchid blooms with golden petals for three months in a year and is available in the forest around this particular place. In the past, this spot was used by the village community as a Community fishing ground. The villagers gathered here to get a big catch in the form of friendly competition. In the evening, they feast together with great pomp and show.  People from this village used to spend their day off in this peaceful spot for swimming, fishing and spend their leisure time. This location is feasible for water sports, boating and fishing with proper infrastructure and good road service. *

Wahkaba Falls

This waterfall is situated at Umstew opposite the Umstew Beach, This elegant waterfall has a legendary story of its own. In the past there lived two fairies in this Waterfall- one black and one white. Sometimes on a market day, one will see these fairies  at Sohra Market shopping like ordinary people carrying basket to keep their belongings. Most of the people in the market cannot recognize them but for those who can differentiate ,they can easily recognize them because they have no shadow of their own. These fairies used to hypnotize the people coming in contact with them. In the past most of the young men disappeared from home and returned  after two to three month and it was believed that they were married to a fairy. *

Noh-Kalikai Falls

The beautiful waterfall, cascading down from the top of the gorge to the mystic deep green pool below, reminded one, of the tragic legend associated with it, i.e., of a grief stricken mother who plunged to her death, she was unable to overcome her sorrow over the murder of her daughter by her husband and the horror that she had relished by eating the flesh of her only beloved child. After eating, she finds her daughter's fingers in the betel-nut basket. In despair, the woman threw herself off this cliff giving the falls its name: "Fall of Ka Likai"

Nohsngithiang Falls

The Nohsngithiang Falls, also known as the Mawsmai Falls is located 1 kilometre south of Mawsmai village. The waterfall is also called the Seven Sisters Falls as it has got seven segments plunging down the limestone cliffs of Khasi Hills from a height of about 1000 feet. One can view the falls from the Eco Park which has been constructed on the plateau on top of the falls. There is also a viewing point for the falls on the road to Cherrapunji. We gave the Eco Park a go by and viewed the falls from the viewpoint on the road. The rainwater fed waterfall presents an enchanting view against the backdrop of limestone cliffs.
