With a view to create awareness amongst people about disaster and its impact upon human civilisation, and how it can be substantially reduced by preparedness and mitigation measures , the office of the Sub-Divisional Public Relations Officer, Sohra has organised an awareness programme on “Capacity Building For Disaster Response” on Tuesday last at Mawkdok Community hall wherein Shri.J.D.Suchiang, S.D.O ( C), Sohra was the chief-guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Suchiang said that these types of programmes are important for the people . He said that the objectives of the Disaster Management Plan are to ensure that disaster management plan is organised to facilitate planning and preparedness. He therefore hopes that through these programmes the people will learn to co-operate and to use every available resources within a community that can be harnessed to reduce the level of risk or the effect of a disaster. He therefore urged upon the need of conservation and preservation of the environment and looks forward toward community participation and involvement of the people at large.
Shri P.Marbaniang, Retd Dy.Director Information & Public Relations, Meghalaya ,Shillong was a Resource person . Shri.W.Nongrum, Sordar Mawkdok also spoke on this occasion.
