• • Dalia Govt. LP School lying close to the border fencing under Sohra block is a well functioning government LP School serving the border area pupils of the village.

 

• • The existing school building is very old and dilapidated and as such is not convenient for holding classes especially during rainy seasons.

 

• • The Border Areas Department has extended financial aid to the SMC from SCA(BADP) with the help of which the SMC could construct their RCC school building.

 

• • The building was utilized just after its completion.

• • E.Usai Memorial UP School, Mawkliaw got due opening permission for up gradation to Secondary School and accordingly students were enrolled for the same.
  

 

• • Classes were conducted in the same UP School building but as the roll strength of the school was on the rise, separate additional building was an urgent necessity.

 

• • Seeing the good prospect of the school in view of its pass percentage and also its unique location, the department gave financial aid to the SMC to construct this school building.

 

• • The school will not be of benefit to the people of Mawkliaw alone but will also serve the educational need of secondary standard of those from a couple of surrounding villages like Mawlatang, Suktia, Tyrngei, Diengsiar , etc all of which do not have secondary schools of their own.

 

• • Classes were held in this new school building just after its completion.

 

• • Now, with this separate new building, more students could be enrolled.

• • Majai village is one of the border villages under Sohra block locating close to Bangladesh.
  

 

• •The village has a cluster of Government sub offices like that of the Land Custom, the Forest, the Health (Sub Centre), the Police, the Border Security Force located just adjacent to the Rest House, etc. Exporters and tourists are regular visitors of the village.

 

• • In order to facilitate the Society, the Government officials of the above offices, the exporters and others to hold their meetings, conduct programs for the development of the area and also to provide lodging facility to them, the Society for Rural Development (SRD), Bholaganj had taken the initiative of proposing and constructing this Rest House which includes the boundary fencing wall and the approach road out of the SCA (BADP) scheme.

• • Khahumrin is a village having more than 170 households lying adjacent to Ichamati village both under Mawlong sirdarship of Sohra Border Areas Block.

 

• • One river by the name ‘Khahumrin river’ runs inside the village and as such prior to the construction of this footbridge, whenever this river swelled up, the village was literally split in two. In the absence of any means of infrastructural connectivity like footbridges, etc., the hardship faced by the villagers in commuting between themselves could be plainly understood by one and all.

 

• •This RCC footbridge constructed under Special Central Assistance under Border Area Development Programme has helped a lot in bridging this particular infrastructural gap at Khahumrin for the betterment of these villagers.

 

• • Nongpriang village like many other border areas villages is not yet saturated with means of infrastructural connectivity.

 

• • The people of this village earn their livelihood mainly from horticultural activities.

 

• •There are bridgeless rivers and streams which often impede the poor cultivators of the village from reaching their fields during monsoon..

   

• • The Border Areas Development, Sohra with what ever little fund it had received, made sanction in two phases for the construction of this footbridge over Wahumshet for improving the livelihood activities of the villagers.
