Public  Information  Campaign  On  Bharat  Nirman  Inaugurated  At  Sohra , Oct 16 th , 2012




Shri. Cyril V.Darlong Diengdoh, IAS, Sub-Divisional Officer ( C) , Sohra   inaugurated  today the  three  days  Public  Information Campaign  cum Exhibition organized  by  Press Information Bureau  in  collaboration  with Directorate of Audio Visual Publicity (DAVP), Directorate of Field Publicity, Doordarshan, All India Radio and S.D.O (C), Sohra Administration which  was held in the office  complex of  the  Block  Development Officer, Shella Bholaganj  Block. The Campaign was organized with a view to create awareness amongst people particularly the rural areas and strongly focus on flagship programmes implemented by various government agencies.


Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Diengdoh said that the main objective of the campaign is to highlight upon the different developmental programmes and schemes of the government like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural employment Guarantee Schemes (M.G.N.R.E.G.S), Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (S.S.A) etc.”Unless   we know, what are the schemes all about we will not know what our rights are” he asserted. He stated that we have lots of state’s programmes which have direct involvement with the people and the Right to Information serves as a platform of access to the various schemes implemented by different government departments. He called upon one and all to utilize their rights as well as to spread awareness amongst the masses. He then cut the ribbon and declared the Campaign cum exhibition opened.


The other highlight of the day were lighting of the lamp and cultural programmes. 


There were about 12 exhibition stalls which were participated by different government departments of the Sub-division.


Shri.L.Kynjing, Block Development Officer, Shella Bholaganj Block, Dr.J.Buam, Sub-Divisional Medical & Health Officer, Smt.H.Papang and  Smt.D.Rynjah, Child Development Project Officer were the Resource persons.


Earlier Shri.N.saikia, media & Communication Officer, Press information Bureau, Shillong gave an introductory speech as well as the vote of thanks.
