Shri Barkos Warjri, IAS , Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya has inaugurated the 2 (Two) days Retreat On Water organized by the Meghalaya Water Resources Development in association with the Meghalaya Water Foundation (MWF) on the 23rd & 24th july at Polo Orchid Conference Hall, Mawblang, Sohra in the presence of Shri.R.M.Mishra, IAS, Principal Secretary Water Resources & Planning, Shri.C.V.D.Diengdoh , Sub-Divisional Officer(C), Sohra and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Warjri expressed his immense pleasure to be able to associate himself with the occasion and at the sametime expressed his profound happiness to have the programme organized at Sohra, one of the Rainiest place on the planet Earth. He highlighted on climate change which arises out of daily human activities due to lack of awareness and understanding in the pursuit of economic growth and the desire to acquire economic growth and development. He therefore stressed upon the need to organize ourselves in terms of water management,to identify the sources of water and the need to preserve and conserve water for human consumption and to protect and rejuvenate the depleted natural resources wherever possible. He stated that our traditions have social control to protect water sources and we need to evolve the way our institution wants by introducing social institutions with a hope to make people aware of the importance of water and to protect the natural resources from depletion. He then wished the workshop a success.

Earlier, Shri. P. Roy, President MWF delivered the welcome address while Shri. A. Swer , CEO, Meghalaya Water Foundation offered the vote of thanks.
