Sohra Interschool Athletic Meet on the 10 th to 12 th ,April, 2013 | |||
Inauguration:- Shri Cyril .V.D.Diengdoh , IAS, Sub-Divisional Officer (C), Sohra, Sohra Civil Sub-Division inaugurated the Three days Sohra Inter School Athletic Meet 2013 which was participated by 20 schools of the Sub-Division at Sohra Sports Association Stadium. The Meet which was organised by the Sohra Sports Association started with the marching parade of different schools comprising of 18 contingents.
In his inaugural address, Mr.Diengdoh highly congratulate the members of the association for organizing such a Meet which he hoped would benefitted the student community and at the same time expressed his immense pleasure to be able to asso-ciate himself with the meet. “The impressive marching parade and discipline maintained by different contingents is the essence of sporting spirit of participation” he asserted. Further,” sports is part of school curriculum where different schools comes together to com-pete in different events wherein they have to give their best to achieve the maximum level of success and it also serves as a platform where one can showcase one’s talent.” He encouraged one and all to take up sports as their career and represent not only the state but at the national level as well. He therefore urged upon them to compete fairly and squarely in the right spirit of the game. He then wished them success and declared the Meet opened.
Oath –taking from Flag Bearers of different teams and other events for the Under 14 and Under 16 followed thereafter.
Culmination:- The Sohra Inter School Athletic Meet 2013 which kicks start on the 10th April came to a close on Friday last at Sohra Sports Association Stadium, Saitsohpen, Sohra wherein Shri. T.W.Chyne, M.L.A, Sohra was the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Chyne lauded the efforts of the members of the association for conducting such a programme and at the same time expressed his immense pleasure to be able to associate himself with this memorable event. He thereby expressed his happiness to witness the standard of players that had been raised from year to year in this area. He therefore assured to promote sports in future in terms of infrastructure. He there-fore stressed upon the need of practice in order to become a good athlete."Practicing makes one perfect", he added. He then congratulate both winners and losers and wished them success in years to come.
Prizes were also distributed to Best Athletes and also the winners in different categories of events.
Sohra Academy S.School, Sohra emerged as the winner in the March Past followed by St.John Bosco Girls S.School, Sohra as the 1st Runners Up and Ram Krishna Higher S.School, Sohra as the 2nd Runners Up.
St.Ursula Border Areas S.School, Mawlong bagged as the Best Discipline School while St.John Bosco Boys H.S.School, Sohra was declared as the Above All Performance School.
Earlier, Shri. Cyril V.D.Diengdoh, IAS, Sub-Divisional Officer (C), Sohra who is also the President of Sohra Sports Association delivered the welcome address while Shri. A .Marbaniang, Range Forest Officer and the General Secretary of Sohra Sports Assciation offered the vote of thanks.
